Import and Paste Assets in Adobe Xd from Illustrator and Photoshop
In this tutorial, I will cover how to use copy/paste method and Import command to import assets from Photoshop and Illustrator in Adobe Experience Design (Xd).
The very first and very popular option is to copy asset and to paste it in Adobe Xd.
Copy/paste method to import assets
In Photoshop you can create a selection then to use Copy or Copy Merged command. After copying the selection to the clipboard switch to Adobe Xd and simply paste it using right-click > paste or Ctrl/Cmd + V keyboard shortcut.
In Illustrator select object (vector shape) that you want to import then copy it using Edit > Copy (Ctrl/Cmd + C).
Switch to Adobe Xd and paste object (Ctrl/Cmd + V) which will be pasted as SVG in case it is vector object. It is also possible to copy raster or pixel based image. And yes, the object will keep properties like stroke and gradient: linear or radial.
Import assets using Import commandAnother solution is to save files as SVG, JPG, PNG or GIF file and then to use Import command (Ctrl/Cmd + Shift + I or click on hamburger icon then choose: Import) to import assets.
