How To Create Geometric Collages in Adobe Illustrator (Part 2)

Image
In this tutorial we will continue with the creation of geometric collages where we have stopped in the first part. I will explain you my approach to create templates which were set for homework.

Simplicity is perfect That's what the Italian's say and I couldn't agree more. Do not be tricked, it's not that easy to learn to simplify and break things down. You need practice and you need to start from something. That's the purpose of this and previous tutorial.

What I want to show you is that everything is actually very easy and you do not need to know all the options and commands to achieve whatever you want to achieve or to create. Adobe products are not complex, but rather powerful tools which allow you to get perfect and intended result even and as a beginner.

If you proceed your exploration to more advanced user then you'll get speed. Quality and precision will remain the same or in other words you can create most of the things just by knowing the very basic …

I will show you an easy, enjoyable way where instructions can follow even and absolute beginners.

Learn to break things down Whatever you want to do in any application, the key is to learn to break things down, into smaller pieces. That's message which I am trying to pass in my activities and posts tagged with: how things works. Everything will be much easier and will start to be obvious for everyone.

When it comes to geometric collages then we can break things and create so many variations using basic tolls, options and basic shapes: squares, circles, triangles. We are going to deal with geometric shapes with straight lines and we can create them using squares, rectangles, lines and triangles. Depend on the template we want to create sometimes…

Cool Tip When Creating Panoramic Images

Image
When creating panoramic images we usually think about series of overlapping shots in a row. Most of the time that's ok and everything works perfectly, but what if you are too close and you cannot step back? In that case you may end up with lost details which you want to include or with heavy retouching. That's also ok, we have all necessary tools, but you can avoid additional work. The only thing that really matters is overlap and little bit of concentration while taking shots, everything else will be handled by smart guys: Photoshop, Lightroom, Photoshop Elements or Adobe Camera Raw.

Overlap is important, the order does not matter When taking shots for panoramic images you should be concentrating on a task and to take enough shots with enough overlap. The order of images does not play important role, but it is a good habit to shoot in some order like: one down - two up - two down - two up...

I also did one test with images in three rows and basically random order because I h…

Tooltips, Tool Hints and Keyboard Shortcuts in Photoshop

Image
There are many helpers in Photoshop and other Adobe products which can help you while exploring and learning, but also and to speed up your workflow. It is funny and sad that many users needs help and forums/groups to figure out keyboard shortcut which they are seeing every day in front of them. It is the same with tips like: tip to use a modifier to change tool behavior. One of the keys in learning product is to open your eyes and to use everything that can help you. Adobe products have lots of stuff to help you instantly, you need to know only few of them.

Be smart, so many things are obvious If you are completely new or you have a problem remembering things, just do not worry. Repetition is the mother of knowledge and you will start remembering shortcuts, menus and options after a certain amount of time and repeats. That's how things work for the most of the users and I cannot help you to speed up memorizing.

Process of mastering If you take a look at my activities on the inte…
