Selection Preview Options For Color Range Command in Photoshop CC 2014

Image
One of the common tasks in Photoshop is to create selections, right? One of the most powerful commands to create accurate selections is Select > Color Range command. There is one option at the bottom which is usually overlooked by users: Selection Preview . This option combined with shortcuts and tools which are available even when Color Range dialog is displayed and active, can help you in creating very accurate and precise selections. What is helpful with Selection Preview In the Color Range dialog you have small preview which can be used to tweak selection and may serve as a preview of what is selected. I cannot say it is not helpful for preview but there are much better options in my opinion. From the Selection Preview drop-down list you have several options which will create an overlay on actual image which can be zoomed in 100% or at any zoom level even after opening Color Range dialog. Keyboard shortcut to zoom to 100% is Ctrl/Cmd + 1 . After zooming in, you will

Easy Way to Submit Product (Files) to Adobe Add-ons

Image
I can guess that you are already using Creative Cloud Market and Adobe Add-ons site (former Adobe Exchange) as a sources for freebies and quality solutions. You can submit your own solution which can be any file that can run or to be opened in CC applications like: PSD template, brush set, actions, seamless tiling patterns, InDesign template, EPS, AI, mulib, muse and so on, and so on. There is my post from earlier, which explains how to prepare and submit files , but process have been greatly simplified and currently you cannot find an easier way to submit files to any of available marketplaces. In fact, the process is simple as uploading files to your blog or site. Why to submit your solution to the Adobe Add-ons site In the first place you can give back one piece of what you are getting from the community and make some users happy. The second reason is that your submission can change your career and life. A very, very cool things are happening where most of us do not expect them

Apply Layer Style/Effect to Multiple Layers in Photoshop CC 2014

Image
Photoshop is all about speed and efficiency. Beside common and well known ways to increase speed and efficiency (Generator, Libraries , Actions , Variables , Layer Comps , Plugins ...) there are tons of happy little features which are overlooked by most of the users. In this quick tip I will give you an idea how to combine: filter layers, show layer styles as text only and the ability to apply a Layer Style to multiple layers. The beauty is because Layer Style can be saved with the single layer effect like Stroke or Drop Shadow. Which one is which? Save Layer Styles with meaningful names and display them as text only, for example. Furthermore, you can add a single effect to existing style so you can, in essence to build Layer Styles on the fly. I mean to build and apply same Layer Style to multiple layers. In case you have applied too strong Drop Shadow, for example, you can change it on the fly. A combination of three happy little features can increase your efficiency because most

Photoshop Actions Mini Course (Part 5)

Image
We will continue our journey with Photoshop actions . In this post we will cover how to test the recorded action. Testing action is one of the most important part in the process of creating successful Photoshop action and this topic deserve its own, separate tutorial. I will give you some guidelines and answers on questions: why and how. Why test Photoshop action The very first reason is to ensure that action is playing properly and delivers expected result. Sometimes it will be a very easy task while other times you may be forced to change and modify your action. Things are getting more difficult with complexity of action what does not simply mean number of steps, we have covered that in the previous tutorial . The second reason is the target audience. In case you want to distribute or sell your action, then you must think about the users. The third reason is compatibility. With each new version Photoshop is getting new features (commands) which wasn't present in the previ
