Free Cool Frames
Today I have to share 5 very cool frames. The package contains separate folders for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. There are PSD templates (5), actions and Layer Styles for both applications. You can customize the frame, to apply any of 6 provided Layer Styles to it and to change the pattern around the image and frame. Actions are provided to speed up entire process. Use templates in personal and commercial projects free of charge as and everything else listed in freebies section and on my site Photoshop Plus > Free.
Download Cool Frames. Note: images used for previews are not included. You can download images from depositphotos. Images are high quality and pretty cheap on their site.
How to use templatesAs mentioned above, there are separate folders for Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. Open any of the templates and load actions. Run Read Me! action which will explain you everything you need to know. Photoshop action: Replace Texture on Bgr Border Layer contains conditional action and can be used in Photoshop CS6 and later. In case you are running some previous version please use two actions at the bottom instead.
There is action to replace pattern around the image and frame, but you may want to use Adobe Paper Texture Pro instead (it's free). In that case, drag layer mask from Bgr Border layer onto layer with texture or onto group if you have loaded multiple textures and blended them for the final effect. You must also hide Bgr Border layer. It is easier to group multiple textures and to apply layer mask to group instead of applying it to each individual texture.
If you want to customize the frame, then first add a layer mask to Frame layer, ensure that mask is selected and paint with black color using the Brush Tool. In case you want to customize parts of the frame which overlaps image, you must paint with black color and layer mask attached to Bgr Border layer.
One more information for Photoshop Elements users: you can use Layer Styles. First load styles in Elements (here is how). Select Frame layer in layers stack and double click on style to apply it.
