Cookies - Free Photoshop Patterns

Today freebie is set of 8 seamless tiling patterns which you can use with Photoshop and Photoshop Elements free of charge in personal and commercial projects. Patterns are 200x200 px tile size but you can scale them too if you want. I recommend you 100%, 50% and 25% scaling. If you want to upsample patterns then it is good idea to convert Pattern Fill layer to Smart Object and sharpen a bit upsampled pattern. How to Delete All Empty Layers in Photoshop

It is not big surprise if you have empty layers in Photoshop especially in documents with lot of layers. To quick delete all empty layers use script from File > Scripts > Delete All Empty Layers. Note: this script deletes only empty layers, dummy (without any visible content) type and shape layers won't be deleted.  Delete all empty layers in Photoshop Dummy type layers Dummy (empty) type layer you can create by selecting Type tool and drawing paragraph container without to type anything inside. Dummy type layer is also created when you click with type tool anywhere on canvas to add point type but without to type anything. In both cases if you confirm with Enter or by clicking confirmation checkmark in Options bar new type layer will be created without any visible content. Use Advantage of Layer Comps When Placing PSD Files in Illustrator

When opening or placing native Photoshop PSD files in Illustrator you can use advantage of Layer Comps feature in Photoshop. Using either Open or Place command in Illustrator you will always see Photoshop Import Options dialog which allows you to choose which composition you want to use from: Layer Comp drop-down list at the top of dialog. Preview section gives you preview of chosen composition when: Show Preview option is checked. You can also choose who controls layers visibility when placing linked file from: When Updating Link: drop down list. Distribute Objects with Custom Spacing in Illustrator

Adobe Illustrator allows us to align, distribute objects and spacing, even with custom or exact spacing defined in points, millimeters, centimeters, inches… Align and Distribute Objects To align, distribute objects or spacing you need first to  open Align panel (Window > Align or memorable and easy to press shortcut Shift + F7) then to  select all objects using Selection tool. With objects selected you can define key object simply by clicking on it with Selection tool (fat blue line around that object will appear). Next step is to ensure Align To: at the bottom right corner is set to Key Object (Key icon should appear). Now you can use Align and Distribute icons to align and distribute according to key object. Easy Way to Clean Up InDesign Document

InDesign ships with wonderful script FindChangeByList which can clean up your document in seconds. You do not need to mess with scripts and codes, everything is ready made. This script contains following instructions for fixes everyone want: Find all double spaces and replace with single spaces. Find all returns followed by a space And replace with single returns. Find all double tab characters and replace with single tab characters. Find all returns followed by a tab character and replace with single returns. How to Quick Locate Object in Illustrator Layers Panel

Most of the time you will have lot of layers, groups and objects in Illustrator and it can be very difficult to locate specific object in Layers panel. There is quick way to locate object from panel menu. To quickly locate object first select it using Selection tool. Click on Layers panel menu in top right corner to expand it. Choose Locate Object and Illustrator will locate selected object for you. Check Reading Level of Your Text Online for Free

You can check readability of your text using  Readability index calculator  which is using  Flesch-Kincaid method. Creating Patterns from Bitmap Images in Adobe Illustrator

Can I create pattern in Illustrator from bitmap (raster, pixel based) image was question on Answers.com where I am contributor . My answer was: yes, you can. In this tutorial I will provide some more details how to create, save and use pixel based patterns in Adobe Illustrator. Create bitmap pattern in Illustrator First off course you must place bitmap image in Illustrator, do not link file because Define Pattern.. Comand in Edit menu will be dimmed out. Take a look at Options bar and press Embed button if its active to embed image. Pay attention and to image resolution before placing image in Illustrator . Embed image in Illustrator To create seamless tiling pattern you can use any size of bitmap image but you must define which part of the image you want to use as pattern. Use Rectangle Tool and draw square or rectangle, set color and stroke to none and send unfiled rectangle to back (right click on rectangle with Selection tool active and choose: Arrange > Send to Back
